THURSDAY, JUNE 11: BRASS BAND FESTIVAL
Profile America -- Thursday, June 11th. One of the small town summer joys of the past is being recreated this weekend in Danville, Kentucky. Some 40,000 people are expected to enjoy performances at the annual Great American Brass Band Festival. Concerts featuring world famous brass bands will be held on the lawn at Centre College, in the bandstand by the courthouse, and other locations in town. In addition to concerts of patriotic tunes and popular songs, the festival also includes a hot air balloon event, a 5K run and a pancake breakfast. Listening to live music is popular all around the U.S. Nearly 24 million people attend a musical concert featuring other than country and rock music at least once a year. Profile America is in its 13th year as a public service of the U.S. Census Bureau.
