Van Cliburn Competition to Showcase Steinway in Streaming Video

LONG ISLAND CITY, N.Y., May 22 /PRNewswire/ -- Beginning today, The Thirteenth Van Cliburn International Piano Competition, featuring Steinway & Sons pianos exclusively, will be streamed live in its entirety at www.cliburn.tv. The Fort Worth, Texas competition will feature twenty-nine pianists vying for prizes valued at more than $1,000,000. Pianist and arts advocate Jade Simmons will host the webcast for the duration of the competition, which concludes on June 7.

The competitors, a group of twenty-nine accomplished pianists ranging in age from 19 to 30 and representing countries all over the world, were selected after performing in cities including Shanghai, China; Hannover, Germany; Lugano, Switzerland; St. Petersburg, Russia; New York, New York; and Fort Worth, Texas. The Van Cliburn International Piano Competition is an exclusive Steinway event. Each pianist in the competition will choose to perform on one of three Steinway pianos -- all three pianos are identical Model D concert grands.
