Co-stars Aly Michalka, Vanessa Hudgens, Gaelan Connell and Hollywood Record's Mitchell Lieb will help students examine the role and positive impact of music in society based on the themes from their upcoming film: BANDSLAM. Through the program, students will learn about music arrangement, composition, musicianship, and the importance of music in everyday life. GRAMMY songwriter Lucy Walsh, daughter of The Eagles' Joe Walsh, will also be participating in the Q&A and performing for the students. The program will be recorded and edited to service to educators across the country to use in their classrooms.
BANDSLAM is a funny teen tale that navigates life's big dilemmas between friendship and romance, gossip and truth, jealousy and loyalty, dreams and reality. When gifted singer-songwriter Charlotte Banks asks new kid in town Will Burton to manage her fledgling rock band, she appears to have just one goal in mind: go head-to-head against her egotistical musician ex-boyfriend at the biggest event of the year, a battle of the bands. Against all odds, their band develops a sound all its own with a real shot at success in the contest. When disaster strikes, it's time for the band to make a choice: Do they admit defeat, or face the music and stand up for what they believe in?
Walden hosts Reel Thinking events for all of its titles; they are multi-component educational and entertainment events. The programs engage onsite and remote students nationwide in informative and interactive interdisciplinary explorations while incorporating national and state educational content standards.
