World's Biggest Beatles Festival Launches; 'They're Gonna Make a Big Star Out of Me' $10,000 Singing Competition

Winner will Perform on the Stage that Made The Beatles Famous in Liverpool

LOUISVILLE, Ky., April 22 /PRNewswire/ -- The Courier-Journal.com Abbey Road on the River is launching the world's biggest Beatles song singing competition, sponsored by the Hard Days Night Hotel (Liverpool), named after Ringo Starr's Act Naturally lyric "They're Gonna Make a Big Star Out of Me." With shows like American Idol and Britain's Got Talent capturing the world's attention, it's time Abbey Road on the River proves that Louisville's got talent too. The grand prize winner will perform on the world famous stage where the Beatles launched their career, The Cavern Club in Liverpool.

Contestants will be separated into two age categories, and the grand prize winner of the 16+ category will receive a trip for two to Liverpool which includes roundtrip airfare, a 4-night stay at the Hard Days Night Hotel, a VIP tour of Beatles homes and sites in Liverpool, and an opportunity to perform on the very stage where the Beatles launched their career at the world-famous Cavern Club. They will also receive a $300 Beatles merchandise shopping spree and a $1,000 contract to perform at Abbey Road on the River 2010.

Abbey Road on the River, the world's largest Beatles tribute festival which features over 50 bands and draws 25,000 fans from across the globe, will be held in Louisville May 21 - 25, 2009, at the Belvedere Festival Park and Galt House Hotel & Suites. The music festival is 5 days of peace, love, and rock and roll, showcasing the world's most accomplished Beatles and 60's era bands performing thousands of hit songs each day.
