WEGENER(R) to Launch iPump(R) 525 IP Media Player at NAB 2009
WEGENER media player ideal for IP-based digital signage, corporate communications, and subscription-based services
DULUTH, Ga., April 15 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Wegener Corporation (NASDAQ:WGNR), a leading provider of equipment for television, audio, and data distribution networks worldwide, today announced it will introduce the WEGENER(R) iPump(R) 525 IP media player at the 2009 NAB Show in Las Vegas, Nevada, April 20-23 at booth #SU7913.
WEGENER iPump 525 media player is part of a solution for video services that require customization on a site-by-site or regional basis, such as: digital signage, corporate communications, and subscription-based services. The player supports live and file-based standard definition (SD) and high definition (HD) video, MPEG-2, and MPEG-4 (H.264) video with overlays.
With the iPump 525's overlay feature, all video playout from the iPump 525 can be augmented with graphics and text. This makes it simple to immediately update hundreds of displays with time-sensitive information - such as: regional news, local advertiser contacts, or horse racing odds - with a choice of static, scroll, or crawl formats.
WEGENER's iPump 525 can be used in conjunction with CompelConnect.com, a new WEGENER software-as-a-service (SaaS) that provides management tools for content distribution, scheduling, playout control, and continuous monitoring of WEGENER iPump media receivers/players. The combination provides a solution for small to mid-sized video networks looking for flexible and visually compelling presentation of information.
"We are excited to expand our IP-based product family and to maintain our commitment to support revenue generating applications," said Ned L. Mountain, President and COO of WEGENER. "The new iPump 525 IP media player and CompelConnect.com solution has the ability to deliver custom messages to any number of locations simultaneously to enhance key sales and marketing activities."
Editor's Note:
The NAB Show is the world's largest electronic media show that covers the development, management, and delivery of content across all mediums. Beyond an extensive exhibit hall, it features numerous conferences and educational sessions on a variety of topics. WEGENER's Vice President System Architect, Gary Pelkey, will present "Microcasting - Applying Automation with Customization to Radio Station Affiliates" during the Radio Engineering Conference on April 20. WEGENER's Vice President of Marketing, Kamy Merithew, will be part of the "How the Global Video Content Cloud Will Transform Your Business" panel during the Content Distribution Forum on April 21.
