'Swarm': New Screenplay Centers Around Small-Town Football

MIDWAY, Ga., April 13 /PRNewswire/ -- "Swarm" (published by AuthorHouse), the first work by budding screenplay writer Norman E. Harris, Jr., is set in his hometown of Sunbury, Ga., where Harris brings to life the close relationships that are forged in many small-town atmospheres.

"'Swarm' is the story of a small-town underdog football team with a new and inexperienced coach who has enough problems of his own," explains Harris. "What is important is that, in small towns like Sunbury, not only do communities rally around their high school football teams, but they go out of their way to help friends who need their assistance."

In "Swarm," National Football League hopeful Rodney Morgan had it all until he crossed the dangerous mob boss, Genco Guiseppe. Two years later, Rodney is a broken man with a prosthetic leg and memories of his murdered family. Close to suicide, Rodney gets a second chance at life when he is hired to succeed local legend Coach Frederick Brown as coach of the relatively unknown, single "A" football team, the Sunbury Hornets.

By a stroke of luck, the Hornets are evaluated and offered to compete in the HSPN National High School Championship Tournament against the largest schools in the country. But not everyone is happy with the new and inexperienced Coach Morgan. Morgan almost turns down the tournament challenge until he is confronted by Genco Guiseppe's thugs who intend to finish the job they started years ago. Morgan's life is spared by Guiseppe, who sees a large profit to be made betting on the underdog Hornets during their games. But one defeat means the Hornets are eliminated from the High School Championship Tournament and Rodney will have to pay with his life.

"'Swarm' is about redemption and hard work," said Harris, who intends to write additional screenplays in the future. "And that's what it takes for people in books - and in life - to prove to others and themselves that life truly does matter and that we all have purpose worth striving for."

Norman E. Harris, Jr. is married and is the father of two daughters. After graduating from Liberty County High School, Harris enlisted in the United States Air Force and served his full enlistment. Released with an honorable discharge, Harris has since made his living as an overseas contractor, traveling extensively around the world. "Swarm" is Harris's first published screenplay.
