Horse Lovers Have New Anthem in Rescue Video 'I Chased The Wind'
PHILADELPHIA, April 16 /PRNewswire/ -- Nationally syndicated humorist Mike Ball has temporarily put aside the jokes and picked up his guitar to help Angel Acres Horse Haven Rescue in their quest to save American horses from abuse and death.
Angel Acres has made it to the "Top 10" in a $1 Million shelter makeover contest sponsored by Zootoo.com, a web site for animal and pet lovers. As part of their effort, Angel Acres asked Ball, who along with being an award-winning columnist is an accomplished musician, if he would be willing to write and record a song that could be used in an online video and for public service announcements. He was happy to oblige. "Until I learned about Angel Acres," said Ball, "I had no idea that perfectly healthy horses, who should be looking forward to long and happy lives, are instead being slaughtered and sent overseas as food. It's one of those terrible secrets that most of us would rather not think about. There's just something wrong with the idea of Seabiscuit sushi."
The song he wrote and recorded, titled I Chased The Wind, is a simple ballad with a haunting refrain:
I chased the wind for you.
I almost caught it a time or two.
But now you've walked away;
There's nothing I can do
Angel Acres founder Jo Deibel hopes the song and video will touch people enough for them to vote in the Zootoo.com competition. "It's all up to America to vote for Angel Acres and decide who'll win the million dollar makeover. I know if the horses could vote... they would!"
Voting is open until midnight April 19, 2009. People can vote up to ten times a day at: www.zootoo.com/vote
