Dave Matthews Band Chooses Pandora to Promote New Record 'Big Whiskey and the GrooGrux King'

Dave Matthews Band Chooses Pandora to Promote New Record 'Big Whiskey and the GrooGrux King'

New Single Available Today for On-Demand Streaming At Pandora

OAKLAND, Calif., April 16 /PRNewswire/ -- Today, Pandora and Dave Matthews Band (DMB) announced the launch of exclusive content to the millions of DMB fans on Pandora. For the first time ever, an artist will be using Pandora and the Music Genome Project to introduce a new single and the new album, Big Whiskey and the GrooGrux King, directly to their fans. The launch on Pandora, which is brought to fans by Brita's FilterForGood campaign, includes a promo station and site skins that allow fans to add DMB Radio directly to their personal station list and stream the new single, Funny The Way It Is, and, in late May, the full album on-demand, all at http://www.pandora.com/davematthewsband.

Pandora, the personalized internet radio service, with more than 25 million users, will release Dave Matthews Band's newest single today (and full album on May 26th, one week prior to the street date) to the band's well-established fan base on Pandora. Fans can add exclusive Dave Matthews Band Radio to their personal stations list for on-demand listening of the single and album, along with hearing the band's latest tracks organically streamed in their current Dave Matthews Band and like-artist stations. In addition to the in-stream distribution, Pandora is supporting the launch with an exclusive destination page which will feature updated audio and video content, including footage from the making of the album, throughout the promotional period.

"Internet radio is rapidly becoming a powerful tool for artists at all stages in their careers," said Tim Westergren, Founder of Pandora. "We're very pleased that Dave Matthews Band has chosen to promote their upcoming single and album on Pandora. The band has long epitomized the working musicians that Pandora has championed and supported."

Dave Matthews Band is one of the most popular artists on Pandora. More than 3 million listeners have created a Dave Matthews Band station on Pandora with 21 of their songs having had more than 1 million spins each. The song "Where Are You Going" has had almost 10 million spins alone.

"We're excited to be promoting the new album on Pandora," said Bruce Flohr of Red Light Management, Dave Matthews Band's longtime management company. "We are always looking for new, innovative ways to bring our music directly to the band's fans. Pandora's personalized radio is a great way to do that."

Pandora Internet radio is personalized, free and easy to use. To start a station, listeners need only enter the name of an artist, song, or classical composer, and within seconds Pandora will create a "station" that plays their music, and more music like it, based on the Music Genome Project. Thumbs up and down allow listeners to further fine tune the station to reflect their tastes.

RCA Records will release the group's latest studio album, Big Whiskey and the GrooGrux King, on June 2nd. Produced by Rob Cavallo (Green Day, My Chemical Romance), the record is the follow-up to 2005's Stand Up, the fourth consecutive Dave Matthews Band studio album to enter The Billboard 200 at No. 1. The group, which will tour Europe from late June through early July, has sold a collective 35 million units (CD and DVD combined) and - with over 15 million tickets sold - has been named the top-drawing American band in the world by Billboard.

Brita's FilterForGood campaign is helping to bring the new album exclusively to Pandora users this Earth Month. The campaign is a movement to raise awareness of the simple changes everyone can make to go green and live healthier lives, starting with filling a reusable bottle with Brita filtered water instead of using single-serve water bottles. Brita is proud to support DMB's new album based on the band's longstanding concern for the environment. Listeners can visit FilterForGood.com to pledge to reduce bottled water waste and get their own FilterForGood bottle. Fans can also check out Brita's FilterForGood radio station on Pandora, which features DMB.

About Brita's FilterForGood Campaign

The FilterForGood campaign began in 2007 as part of Brita and Nalgene's mission to reduce bottled water waste by offering a greener solution to staying hydrated at home and on the go. Through the Web site www.FilterForGood.com, anyone can pledge to switch to a reusable bottle filled with Brita filtered water, purchase the iconic green FilterForGood Nalgene bottle and receive Brita coupons. To date, an estimated 131 million bottles have been saved thanks to those who took the FilterForGood pledge.
