Cox Delivers 50 Mbps Downloads to Lafayette, Louisiana
Lafayette Parish Customers Among the First in the Country to Benefit from Cable's New DOCSIS(R) 3.0 Technology; Additional Markets to Get Cox's Ultimate Internet Later in 2009.
WASHINGTON, April 1 /PRNewswire/ -- At the National Cable & Telecommunications Associations' Cable Show, Cox Communications today announced availability of its Ultimate Internet package in Lafayette Parish, Louisiana. Powered by cable's exclusive DOCSIS 3.0 technology, Cox's Ultimate Internet offers customers some of the fastest broadband speeds in the nation, with downloads up to 50 Mbps and uploads to 5 Mbps. The third generation of cable's DOCSIS (Data-Over-Cable Service Interface Specification) introduces channel bonding, a technology that can bond parallel cable channels to transmit data at faster speeds.

While Cox Business offers several fiber-based advanced data solutions with higher speeds, the Ultra package provides an additional option for small to medium size business locations.
