AT&T Launches Campaign to Plant Trees on Behalf of New U-verse TV Customers in California and Nevada
AT&T and Sundance Channel Partner in April and May in Celebration of Arbor Day and to Promote 'THE GREEN' Series on the Sundance Channel
LOS ANGELES, April 7 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- AT&T* today is kicking off a campaign to celebrate Arbor Day and promote the Sundance Channel's "THE GREEN" series. For every customer in California and Nevada who purchases AT&T U-verse(SM) TV service in an AT&T retail store in April and May, AT&T and Sundance Channel will plant a tree in a national forest.
"At AT&T, we are committed to improving the communities where we and our customers live and work," said Ken McNeely, president, AT&T California. "Keeping America strong and moving forward is a responsibility we take seriously and we are proud to partner with Sundance Channel, a television network that has always been on the forefront of this issue. We are excited to give our customers a gift that will live for generations."
Customers who purchase AT&T U-verse TV during the promotion will receive a card printed on recycled paper in the mail from the Arbor Day Foundation notifying them that a tree has been planted on their behalf. The trees will be planted in a National Forest in celebration of Arbor Day.
"We're thrilled to partner with AT&T to encourage awareness about the environment and to give back to our communities," said Sarah Barnett, SVP Marketing and Branding, Sundance Channel. "Now, more than ever it is key that we protect our planet. We hope through this promotion that our viewers and AT&T customers will gain knowledge about what they can do to take responsible care of our environment."
Sundance Channel's "THE GREEN" series is television's first regularly scheduled programming destination dedicated entirely to the environment. Presented by Robert Redford, THE GREEN reflects the current tipping point in public awareness about ecological issues and the trend towards environmentally sustainable approaches to modern living.
"Investments in our people, infrastructure, communities and the environment can bring prosperity, growth and opportunity to hard workers, families and businesses and are top priority at AT&T," said Fred Devereux, regional president, AT&T West. "This is just one example of how we're incorporating sustainability initiatives within our business and the community."
AT&T U-verse TV, U-verse High Speed Internet and U-verse Voice services, which are all delivered over the AT&T's advanced Internet Protocol (IP) network, offer an alternative to cable and an unmatched experience for customers. AT&T U-verse brings together your TV, broadband, home phone and wireless services - all on one bill - with unique features that provide a new level of integration, convenience and control. AT&T U-verse TV ranked "Highest in Customer Satisfaction in the West Region," according to the J.D. Power and Associates 2008 Residential Television Service Provider Satisfaction Study(SM).
AT&T U-verse TV was one of the first video service providers to receive certification for its set-top boxes under the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency's (EPA) ENERGY STAR program for video providers. All deployed AT&T U-verse TV receivers - including those in customer's homes today without the ENERGY STAR label - exceed the efficiency requirements.
