Special 'Berlin Days' Come to New York City

International Launch of the 'be Berlin' Campaign Marks the 20th Anniversary of the Fall of the Berlin Wall

NEW YORK, March 31/PRNewswire/ -- Signaling the start of a global celebration of the 20th anniversary of
the fall of the Berlin Wall and marking two decades of freedom, change and
creativity, the city of Berlin announced today it will present its top
fashion designers, filmmakers, musicians and artists in the first stop of a
world tour themed "be Berlin." Starting today through April 2, New York City
will host three eventful days called "20 Years of Change: Berlin Days in New
York City." Presented by Berlin Partner GmbH, the marketing organization for
Germany's capital city, the campaign celebrates Berlin's transformation and
present-day cultural vitality and illustrates that Berlin is "the place to
be."

Over the past 20 years since the fall of the Berlin Wall, Germany's
capital has undergone significant change, overcoming division and re-emerging
as a metropolis of international standing. The "be Berlin" campaign, which
will focus on themes related to art, culture, science, business and urban
life, will include further stops in Istanbul and Copenhagen.

The centerpiece of the Berlin Days in New York City and main public event
is "Bricks to Berlin." These massive Styrofoam "bricks"-over eight feet tall-
will be signed and decorated by the New York creative community, including
the artist Peter Max, who was selected to design a portion of the toppled
Berlin Wall 20 years ago, well-known personalities and the general public
with messages of hope, unity and freedom.

The "Bricks to Berlin" event is open to the public today from 10 a.m. to
5 p.m. at The New Museum (235 Bowery). Ultimately, more than 1,000 bricks
with messages from around the world will be assembled at Brandenburg Gate in
Berlin to recreate the historic Berlin Wall. The bricks will then be
symbolically torn down on November 9, 2009 to commemorate the fall of the
Berlin Wall.

Additionally, the "be Berlin" campaign will also host rare industry
events, highlighting Berlin's fashion, film, and art and design. Another free
public event is an evening of "Berlin Nightlife" featuring the music of
Berlin's Super DJ Dmitry at APT Club on Thursday, April 2, starting at 10:00
p.m.
