Tucson, AZ Franchise Creates Four Custom Closet Designs for the Bell Family
SAN RAFAEL, Calif., March 23 /PRNewswire/ -- California Closets, the founder of the organization industry and authority in designing, optimizing and customizing the best use of home spaces, announced their participation in the latest project spearheaded by Extreme Makeover: Home Edition - the Emmy Award-winning nationally televised series that provides and documents drastic home renovations for deserving families. California Closets designed and installed four custom closets to serve the unique needs of the Bell family in Tucson, Arizona in the episode that aired Sunday, March 22 at 8/7:00 pm CT on ABC.
The Bell family home had gradually fallen into disrepair as their daughter, Lizzie Bell, continues to suffer from a rare blood disease known as Diamond-Blackfan Anemia. Lizzie was born with this rare disease, characterized by a failure of the bone marrow to produce red blood cells. Less than 700 children in the world are stricken with Diamond-Blackfan Anemia, and part of Lizzie and her family's courageous fight against the disease has been her establishment of the John P. Bell Foundation, which has helped raise awareness of the ongoing need for blood donations for the past ten years. In recognition of her leadership, bravery and efforts to tell others about the importance of blood drives and donations, the American Red Cross bestowed Lizzie with the "Red Cross Hero Award." The Bell family's plight caught the attention of Extreme Makeover: Home Edition and California Closets was recruited, once again, to assist their television team.
Lizzie's battle against her disease has absorbed the Bell family's energy and resources over the years leaving little time or money for home repairs. While Lizzie and the Bell family dedicated all their efforts to helping others and battling Diamond-Blackfan Anemia, their home continued to deteriorate with gaping cracks in the cement floor, mold growing within the structure and problems with termites. On February 1st, Lizzie and her family were surprised by Ty Pennington and the Extreme Makeover: Home Edition team. While the Bell family was sent by Extreme Makeover: Home Edition to New York City for a vacation, the California Closets Tucson design and installation team worked around the clock with carpenters, electricians, painters and other volunteers to create a beautiful new home for the family, featuring customized closet designs for every family member.
Bob and Paula Trotter, owners of the California Closets franchise in Tucson, custom designed and installed four customized closets for the Bell family at the show's record setting pace. One very special walk-in closet was designed for Lizzie that featured a beautiful lighted and carved vanity, personalized by a silver plaque.
"We are honored to have been a part of this incredible project and excited to contribute to the Bell family's new home," said Bob Trotter, owner of the Tucson franchise of California Closets. "Helping create a better life for the Bell family was a rewarding experience for our franchise team," says Paula Totter. "It was an extraordinary opportunity for us to give back to a family that has done so much for the community, and we hope our contribution will help make their lives easier and their home a more beautiful place for rest and retreat."
