Baker & Taylor to Consolidate BTMS Operations in Indianapolis Distribution Center
- Continued Improvements in Logistics Enable More Efficient Operations -
CHARLOTTE, N.C., March 17 /PRNewswire/ -- Baker & Taylor, Inc., the world's largest wholesale distributor of books and entertainment products, today announced the consolidation of its distribution centers in Woodland, California and Indianapolis, Indiana. The Northern California facility currently services its wholesale club book division Baker & Taylor Marketing Services (BTMS), which will continue to provide its products and services to its wholesale club customers.
"Baker & Taylor and BTMS are fully committed to the wholesale club book channel and will continue to provide superior products and services to our customers," said Tom Morgan, CEO of Baker & Taylor. "This move is simply the result of greater efficiencies we have realized throughout our supply chain, and it will create even more cost savings and logistical improvements that will make our business stronger."
Indianapolis is the ideal location to consolidate these operations, as it is centrally located to better serve BTMS customers, it has sufficient space to handle the additional business, and the company's national returns center is located there.
This transition to the Indianapolis facility will occur over the next 60 days, and should be completed by Friday, May 15.
