Daniel Barnz To Direct 'Beastly' for CBS Films

LOS ANGELES, Feb. 5 /PRNewswire/ -- Daniel Barnz has signed on to direct "Beastly" for CBS Films, it was announced today by Amy Baer, President and Chief Executive Officer of CBS Films, a division of the CBS Corporation (NYSE: CBS.A)(NYSE:and)(NYSE:CBS).

http://www.cbscorporation.com/Barnz also penned the screenplay for "Beastly," which is based on the novel of the same name by Alex Flinn. Susan Cartsonis is producing the film through her company, Storefront Films. Roz Weisberg is co-producer.

An edgy romance, the story centers on a handsome, yet arrogant, 17 year old who is physically transformed and must find true love to break the curse.

Barnz wrote and directed "Phoebe in Wonderland" which premiered at the 2008 Sundance Film Festival and was nominated for the Grand Jury prize. The film stars Felicity Huffman, Elle Fanning and Patricia Clarkson.

Prior to working on "Phoebe in Wonderland," Barnz was a screenwriter. He attended Yale University and the University of Southern California Film School.
