Award-Winning Documentary 'Brothers at War' Supported by Two Honored Executive Producers

Award-Winning Documentary 'Brothers at War' Supported by Two Honored Executive Producers

Gary Sinise and David Scantling join film's production team

AKRON, Ohio, Feb. 12 /PRNewswire/ -- Actor, producer and director Gary Sinise and David Scantling, CEO of private equity firm Scantling Technology Ventures (STV), have joined the production team of "Brothers at War" as executive producers. A documentary by Jake Rademacher, the film chronicles Rademacher's experiences as he seeks to understand his two military brothers and their war by embedding himself in his brother's unit in Iraq.

Both Sinise and Scantling have received recognition for their superior commitments to the American people and the Warfighter. In December 2008, Sinise was awarded the Presidential Citizens Medal, the second highest civilian medal awarded by the United States government, for his support and contributions to troops in Iraq and Afghanistan. Scantling was recognized by Secretary of Defense Robert Gates for his economic development work in Iraq with the Medal for Outstanding Public Service, the second highest civilian medal awarded by the Secretary of Defense.

Sinise and Scantling join the film's producers, Norman S. Powell and Jake Rademacher, who is also the director. With the help of the executive producers, "Brothers at War" will be nationally distributed by Samuel Goldwyn Films. "Brothers at War" will reach commercial theaters in Fayetteville, N.C., Jacksonville, N.C., Columbus, Ga., Chicago, Ill. and Washington, D.C., on March 13, 2009 and a wider release will follow.

"This film made a great impression on me and I am proud to be working alongside Gary, Norman and Jake," said David Scantling. "We all believe in this film and the message it will bring to all active duty, veterans, military families and the American public."

The film was crowned Best Feature Documentary at the 2008 G.I. Film Festival in Washington, D.C., and was awarded the Grand Jury Prize and Best Documentary title at the Solstice Film Festival in Minneapolis. "Brothers at War" has also received praise from actor Jon Voight who said it is "one of the most important films I have ever seen."

Rademacher spent three and a half years filming "Brothers at War," which included embedding himself in four different army combat units through two separate trips to Iraq.

The film examines the lives of his brothers, Capt. Isaac Rademacher and Cpl. Joseph Rademacher, serving in the war-torn Middle East and how their relationships with their family and loved ones change upon their return.

"The film takes place in the darkest hours of the insurgency, before the successful Surge changed U.S. fortunes," Rademacher says. "From Army Intelligence units on secret reconnaissance missions near the Syrian border, to a 'hide site' of National Guard snipers, to the first Iraqi unit -- trained and led by U.S. Marines -- to receive responsibility for its own battle space, the film gives unparalleled access to the daily lives of men and women in war."
