About the Critical Need Response Fund
The Critical Need Response Fund was launched in December 2008 with a $1 million gift from Charlotte philanthropists Sandra and Leon Levine. The fund is a partnership program of The Leon Levine Foundation, Mecklenburg Ministries, the Charlotte Chamber of Commerce, the United Way of Central Carolinas and Foundation For The Carolinas, who have called on a task force of citizen leaders to raise and distribute funds from December through March to shelter, feed, clothe and keep warm those in need. The task force will award grants to local nonprofit service providers that offer the best strategies to address well-documented increases in case work due to the economic crisis. One hundred percent of the fund will be available for grants, with no administrative fees paid to any of the participating agencies. For more information, visit https://www.fftc.org/.
