Cable and Wireless Guernsey Deploys Performance Technologies' SEGway(TM) IP-Edge Solution

Cable and Wireless Guernsey Deploys Performance Technologies' SEGway(TM) IP-Edge Solution

ROCHESTER, N.Y., Jan. 22 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Performance Technologies (NASDAQ:PTIX), a leading developer of communication platforms and systems, today announced that Cable and Wireless Guernsey, whose parent company is Cable and Wireless plc (Cable & Wireless), has purchased the company's SEGway(TM) IP-Edge Solution to assist with interconnect to other operators outside of the island of Guernsey.

Sure, the trading brand for Cable & Wireless in the Channel Islands & Isle of Man is licensed to provide fixed and mobile services with a universal service obligation across Guernsey, Alderney, Sark, and Herm. Sure offers a range of network connections for service providers and other operators. The Channel Islands are an independent group of islands located in the English Channel, near the northern coast of France and the Isle of Man is an independent island in the Irish Sea between England and Ireland.

SEGway IP-Edge's flexible routing options enable service providers to select a routing schema tailored to their network topology. In cases where consolidated traffic monitoring and billing is required, SEGway's superior advanced routing capability allows service providers to direct all traffic to the core. Alternately, traffic may be processed locally by the IP-Edge, avoiding unnecessary traffic backhaul costs. IP-Edge's complete suite of standards-based interfaces allows any-to-any connectivity within a TDM, ATM, or IP-based network, regardless of an operator's current STP vendor.

"Performance Technologies' SEGway IP-Edge Signalling Solution enabled us to seamlessly and quickly advance our network's capabilities to the next level," said Rick Ozanne, core mobile services product manager for Sure. "Our new SEGway IP-Edge solution provides our customers with the best and most reliable connections to other networks."

"Following our success with FINTEL (Cable and Wireless Fiji), we are very pleased to again be selected by a Cable and Wireless business (Sure) as the signalling solution for their strategic network interconnect," said Cory Grant, vice president of international sales for Performance Technologies. "Their selection of our SEGway IP-Edge continues the growing industry acceptance of our Simply Smarter Signalling products as the solutions of choice for today's progressive telecommunication networks."
