Jamming With 'Santa' to Help Area Homeless

Twelfth-Annual Santa Jam Concert to Benefit Doorways for Women and Families

The following is being issued by Doorways for Women and Families:

WHO: Principato bassist John Perry will be holding the 12th Annual Santa Jam concert at the State Theatre in Falls Church on Thursday, December 11. Sales from Santa Jam's wildly popular "Your Choice Charity Raffle" will benefit women and families experiencing homelessness and victims of domestic violence served by Doorways for Women and Families (www.doorwaysva.org).

Raffle items range from a condo stay in Tamarindo Bay, Costa Rica (valued at over $1,500) to gym memberships and gift cards. Raffle proceeds will be used to provide food, clothing and toys to Doorways' clients.

Tickets are a $10 minimum donation and can be purchased online at www.thestatetheatre.com or at the door. Concert goers are also asked to bring an unwrapped gift or toy for the families residing in Doorways' domestic violence Safe House and Freddie Mac Foundation Family Home. Not only are the toys brought to these shelters, but the cash is converted to $10 gift certificates from Target.

WHAT: Featured performers include Mary Ann Redmond, Tommy Lepson, Tom Principato, Mary Shaver, Soul Gravity, and Generation Vinyl.

"Children with their parents comprise more than 50 percent of the residents in Doorways' shelters and programs throughout the year," says Linda Dunphy, Executive Director for Doorways for Women and Families. "The funds raised by Santa Jam will provide valuable services to these families year-round and the donated toys help make the holidays brighter for the kids."
