First on Mars Selected as a Featured Start-up at Tonight's Microsoft BizSpark Launch Event

SAN FRANCISCO, Dec. 16 /PRNewswire/ -- First on Mars, a personalized guide to network TV on the web, announced today that it has been selected as a featured start-up at tonight's San Francisco launch event for BizSpark. BizSpark is a joint venture between Microsoft and the TechSet designed to bring together venture capitalists, bloggers, press representatives and start- ups. First on Mars staff will be on-hand at the event to make a live demonstration of the First on Mars service and to answer questions from other participants.

Similar to successful personalized Internet radio services such as Pandora and Last.fm, First on Mars is an interactive web application that lets users:

-- discover new TV shows with a personalized guide that adapts to their
viewing habits and preferences regarding shows, networks and TV moods;
-- navigate to network TV shows by selecting from forty-five "TV Moods"
such as dark, dramatic, exciting, futuristic, gritty, sexy, hilarious
and street;
-- graphically navigate to content by clicking on show and network logos;
-- share links to network TV shows with friends using social web
applications such as Facebook, Twitter and StumbleUpon;
-- change the look of their personal guide with six unique skins; and
-- opt-in to receive emails when new episodes of their favorite shows
become available on-line.

First on Mars links to over 12,500 episodes from 600 popular shows on 63 major network sites.

"We are excited to introduce First on Mars to other members of the start-up ecosystem at BizSpark," said First on Mars founder and CEO Tuhin Roy. "Having worked with many talented professionals in the development of First on Mars, we fully understand that collaboration is a key to start-up success."

First on Mars is free to consumers. The company filed a patent application covering its proprietary guide technology in September 2008.
