ARN Operates Hotline for Digital TV Conversion Assistance

BOCA RATON, Fla., Dec. 9 /PRNewswire/ -- American Roaming Network, Inc., the exclusive provider of Manual Roaming Services in the U.S.A. for all CDMA mobile phone carriers including Verizon, Sprint, Alltel and other carriers has announced that it had developed an interactive voice service for the State of Missouri, Kansas, and Illinois for the purpose of informing its broadcast television viewers of the upcoming conversion to digital television due to take place on a national scale on February 17, 2009. The national IVR service will serve to assist the viewers residing in each State as an information hotline and help viewers prepare for the Digital TV Conversion.

Prior to conversion, an 800 number will be made available to all Television Broadcasters to promote the Toll Free 800 number to their viewership in advance and following the February 17th shutoff. When the Black Out occurs on February 17, the toll free number will appear on the viewers television sets where the former analog television programming existed. Any viewer that does not already have a digital converter connected or did not obtain a digital converter box will be directed to call the Toll Free Number for more information and assistance. Callers to the Toll Free Number will be directed to obtain up to two free coupons at a $40.00 value each to be used for the purchase of digital converters and provided by the FCC as well as toll free numbers for digital converter outlets, cable and satellite television providers.

According to ARN CEO Steve Williams, "ARN is already in contact with California and several other States with regard to this Toll Free service and will be inviting all other States to piggyback on this valuable national effort. American Roaming Network will provide each State with ANI (Automatic Number Identification) data and other pertinent data necessary to accurately verify the number and location of the callers, caller data to marketers of the various services as well as market specific data and TV station specific details."

ARN will launch the Toll Free IVR system on December 21, 2008 and expects to receive over 3,000,000 calls nationwide from Broadcast television viewers that do not have a converter box. All of these people will have their TV service interrupted on February 17, 2009 unless they act prior to the cutoff.
