Doug And Jackie Christie Send Their Condolences to the Senator And Show Their Continued Support To The Democratic Party
HOLLYWOOD, Calif., Nov. 3 /PRNewswire/ -- NBA star Doug Christie and his wife, Jackie, want to deeply express their condolences to the Obama family as they grieve for their loss for his beloved grandmother. One day before this historic election it was announced that the Senator's grandmother passed away. As a person coming from a similar ethnic background as the Presidential Nominee, Doug Christie reflects on what an inspiration Obama is not only to him, but to every American.
"I too come from a mixed ethnic background as Senator Obama, and it is people like him who give me strength everyday to know that change is being done in America. I know his grandmother is looking down on him with such pride, as I look at him as a role model for every generation, young and old. He gives reason that change can still be accomplished, and that is why Americans need to go out there and vote for change." Doug Christies states.
Going along on the route to change, the Christies announce they are having their 14th wedding anniversary in Los Angeles next July, and sharing it with 100 gay and lesbian couples. This equal rights movement that the power couple wants to embark on can only be accomplished if Proposition 8 is not passed. The Christies want to encourage California voters to vote NO on Proposition 8 which eliminates the right of same sex to marry. If passed, the proposition would "change the California Constitution to eliminate the right of same-sex couples to marry in California. A new section would be added stating "only marriage between a man and a woman is valid or recognized in California."
The Christies have been avid supporters of marrying for love and have always supported and believed in the vows of marriage. Every year The Christies are known to renew their vows of marriage in a lavish ceremony, and have made it a family tradition, and need the help of the American people so that their plans of marrying next year with 100 gay and lesbian couples can be fulfilled.
"We are living in a generation where no man or woman should be told who they can marry," Jackie Christie comments. "Everyone should be able to love freely, and my husband and I stand strongly behind voting NO on Proposition 8."
Tomorrow America embarks on a momentous occasion in our voting history. The Christies want to remind California voters to keep in mind equal rights for all, and that there should not be any discrimination in our society, that love sees no boundaries, and to vote NO on Proposition 8.
