It's an Animated Collection of Comedic Catharsis: 'The Best of Dr. Katz, Professional Therapist' Hits Stores on Tuesday, December 2

NEW YORK, Nov. 24 /PRNewswire/ -- This collection of comedic confection contains quite simply the most obsessive, compulsive and tormented patients ever to grace the couch of Dr. Katz. Released via COMEDY CENTRAL Home Entertainment and Paramount Home Entertainment, "The Best of Dr. Katz, Professional Therapist" arrives in stores nationwide on Tuesday, December 2 and will also be available at http://shop.comedycentral.com/.

"The Best of Dr. Katz, Professional Therapist" is a single disc and contains 18 appearances from the who's who of stand-up comedy such as Dave Attell, Louis C.K., Dave Chappelle, Margaret Cho, David Cross, David Duchovny, Susie Essman, Janeane Garofalo, Kathy Griffin, Denis Leary, Richard Lewis, Julia Louis-Dreyfus, Kevin Nealon, Conan O'Brien, Patton Oswalt, Brian Regan, Ray Romano and Sarah Silverman. It also includes the bonus feature "Dr. Katz Remembers: His Favorite Ben and Laura Moments" in which the good Doctor gives exclusive new insights into his favorite Ben and Laura moments.

"Dr. Katz" ran for six seasons on COMEDY CENTRAL (1995-1999) and garnered the network Peabody and CableACE Awards as well as its first Primetime Emmy Award. The show depicts the life of the psychiatrist who is routinely manipulated by everyone -- his secretary, his twenty-something son who still lives at home and his bizarre patients. The sitcom's regular characters are played by Boston-based actors Will Lebow (Stanley, Dr. Katz's best friend), Laura Silverman (Laura, the receptionist), H. Jon Benjamin (Ben, Dr. Katz's son), and Julianne Shapiro (Julie, the bartender). The sitcom features two significant production breakthroughs: a computer animation process called "Squigglevision," which involves unique animated line drawings and the use of established stand-up comedians' routines which form the dialogue in Dr. Katz' therapy sessions.
