Eddie Dalva Named Senior Vice President of Content, MTV Networks Entertainment Group
NEW YORK, Nov. 19 /PRNewswire/ -- Eddie Dalva has been named senior vice president of content, MTV Networks Entertainment Group. The announcement was made jointly today by John Cucci, executive vice president and Chief Operating Officer, Entertainment Group, and Kevin Kay, president, Spike TV, to whom Dalva will report.
In his new role, Dalva will have a wide array of programming responsibilities, including the pursuit of international content opportunities and programming enterprises, as well as strategic co-ventures and digital content partnerships. He will also continue to seek out creative financing of alternative and scripted programming, building upon a wide range of contacts and relationships developed throughout his career. Dalva's primary focus will be Spike TV, although he will also represent sister Entertainment Group networks TV Land and Comedy Central in certain instances.
"I couldn't be more thrilled to announce Eddie's appointment to senior vice president of content for the MTV Networks Entertainment Group," said Cucci. "There isn't anyone more capable of enhancing the value of our content and brands globally than he is."
Before his appointment, Dalva served as a consultant to Spike TV and TV Land, helping to successfully launch original programs such as "DEA," "Murder," and "Bullrun" internationally. He was also responsible for putting Spike TV's "Scream Awards" and TV Land's "She's Got the Look" on television sets in 175 countries and over 70 countries, respectively. Dalva also brought in two of Spike TV's most successful acquisitions, "Spike's Wildest Videos" and "Disorderly Conduct." Most recently, Dalva engineered the deal with MGM Television Entertainment for a 2009 Spike TV original movie about Irish gang warfare in Boston to be directed by Walter Hill.
Prior to joining Spike, Dalva had a distinguished career at VH1, most recently serving as senior vice president of programming, co-productions and creative affairs, where he created the channel's acquisition and co-production departments, consistently bringing in some of the network's highest rated programming. He was a key member of the network's creative strategic team, responsible for the channel's explosive growth and success. Dalva was also a member of the team which successfully launched VH1 UK and HA!, which later merged with the Comedy Channel to become Comedy Central.
The MTV Networks Entertainment Group is a division of MTV Networks, a unit of Viacom (NYSE:VIA)(NYSE:VIA.B), and is comprised of a multi-platform portfolio of adult and male-focused brands featuring the Comedy Central, Spike TV and TV Land cable channels, and their respective Web sites, as well as internet comedy site Atom.com and videogame focused GameTrailers.com. The MTV Networks Entertainment Group was formed in 2006 to maximize the growth and brand strength of the group's cable networks and internet sites across the traditional television landscape and the ever-increasing digital universe and its varied new technologies and delivery systems.
