Capitol Chamber of Commerce Looks For Corporate Sponsors
OKLAHOMA CITY, Nov. 7 /PRNewswire/ -- What started as a discussion at the Capitol Chamber of Commerce with its Chairman John Hasley and support staff Gary Jones and Felix Linden (www.capitolchamber.org) concerning the awareness of the rich history of Oklahoma City Eastside is now a documentary in development. "The New Black Gold: The Story of Oklahoma City Eastside" is an hour-long feature highlighting history and information that is ground-breaking to say the least. The title is a contribution from Annette D. Colbert- Beavers, CEO of Visage Production, Inc. (www.visageproduction.net) in Bricktown, the producer selected to produce the documentary. The Capitol Chamber seeks funding for this six-figure project.

Gary Jones met with Dr. Blackburn from the Oklahoma Historical Society (www.okhistory.org) and garnered not only his support but hands-on access through Bruce Fisher, also of the Oklahoma Historical Society. Felix Linden is handling the daunting task of looking through archives of information such as newspapers, magazines, and pictures to capture the essence of this history.
"The history of Oklahoma is steeped in the rich history of African Americans in Oklahoma. With African American cowboys such as Bill Pickett, the Buffalo Soldiers, and places such as Tulsa's Black Wall Street, African Americans in Oklahoma is a story unlike any other in this country," states John Hasley.
"African Americans came to Oklahoma as cowboys, settlers, and gunfighters, and created more all-black townships in Oklahoma than in the rest of the country put together. African Americans produced some of the country's greatest personalities such as Charlie Christian, jazz musician, and Clara Luper, civil rights leader. It is vital that this story is told and recorded for all times. This video of the history of African Americans in Oklahoma City is very timely," continues Hasley.
"The Capitol Chamber is doing the hard part which is long hours of sorting," states Annette D. Colbert-Beavers. "From their research I can develop the storyboard and schedule the shooting through editing."
