'Mamas for Obama' Ready to Spank the GOP With Ad Campaign, 'Republicans Need a Time Out!'

'Mamas for Obama' Ready to Spank the GOP With Ad Campaign, 'Republicans Need a Time Out!'

LOS ANGELES, Oct. 27 /PRNewswire/ -- Mamas for Obama, a grassroots organization formed by mothers in Los Angeles in support of Barack Obama, today launched their first advertising campaign, which includes more than a dozen original ads with the common theme, "The Republicans Need a Time Out!" The ads will air until the election on major cable networks in swing states, starting today in Florida.

The ads, which debuted online last week, are on YouTube (http://www.youtube.com/MamasforObama) and Facebook (http://www.facebook.com/MamasforObama).

The ads were made by independent filmmakers whose TV and film credits include "Six Feet Under," "The Ghosts of Abu Ghraib" and "Night at the Museum." The spots, with titles like "Bad Behavior," "Cookies," "Family Values" and "Prayer," feature kids and moms and appeal to a woman's most maternal instinct: to make sure that the world she leaves to her kids will be safe, just, and inclusive. The Mamas for Obama campaign is the essence of positive advertising.

The campaign will use proprietary geo-voter targeting developed by Spot Runner, a technology company that is delivering the next generation of advertising services, and is partnered with TruthandHope.org, a PAC through which the Mamas are able to solicit donations from a network of friends, family, and colleagues to fund the media buy. The ads will be targeted to key Florida neighborhoods densely populated with undecided likely-to-vote women, ages 25-52.

Members of Mamas for Obama feel that the bad behavior of the Republicans over the last eight years deserves nothing less than a good, long time out. They are concerned that the only "real people" perspective heard from the 24-hour news cycle pundits in this presidential election is that of Joe the Plumber or "pit-bull" hockey moms. Millions of hockey moms, soccer moms, stay-at-home moms and working moms who care about the future of their children and families are voting for Barack Obama, and their perspective is not being heard. Many of the founding "Mamas" are film industry professionals who met while dropping off their kids at school. They and their friends decided they should use their talents and connections to create commercials that could bring their perspective to undecided voters.
