America Wants to Add On-Screen President Dennis Haysbert of '24' to the Real 2008 Presidential Ballot in Blockbuster Survey

Geena Davis of 'Commander in Chief' is Close Runner-Up

DALLAS, Oct. 21 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- A third presidential candidate has been named by the American people -- in a vote for Favorite On-Screen President on blockbuster.com. President David Palmer of the series "24," played by actor Dennis Haysbert, was chosen in the online survey as the fantasy pick for a 2008 write-in candidate. Close runners-up were two other candidates from the small screen: Mackenzie Allen of "Commander in Chief," played by Geena Davis, and Josiah Bartlet of "West Wing," played by Martin Sheen.

"As Saturday Night Live and movies like W. remind us, actors love to imitate American presidents and candidates," said Keith Leopard, director, film product, Blockbuster Inc. "We wanted to turn the tables and ask the American people which on-screen president has the qualities they would most like to see in the real White House."

The popular votes for best on-screen president to put on the real 2008 ballot went to:

1. President David Palmer, "24" (Dennis Haysbert) 17%
2. President Mackenzie Allen, "Commander in Chief" (Geena Davis) 16%
3. President Josiah Bartlet, "West Wing" (Martin Sheen) 16%
4. President James Marshall, "Air Force One" (Harrison Ford) 12%
5. President Thomas J. Whitmore, "Independence Day" (Bill Pullman) 12%
6. President Andrew Shepherd, "The American President"
(Michael Douglas) 8%
7. President Mays Gilliam, "Head of State" (Chris Rock) 8%
8. President Tom Beck, "Deep Impact" (Morgan Freeman) 7%

The above results are from an October 2008 survey including more than 9,000 responses on Blockbuster.com.
