WEGENER Receives $2.1 Million Order from Dial Global for iPump(R) 6420 Audio Media Servers Following Jones Radio Acquisition

Initial phase of multi-year project to consolidate media distribution operations

DULUTH, Ga., Sept. 17 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Wegener Corporation (NASDAQ:WGNR), a leading provider of equipment for television, audio and data distribution networks worldwide, today announced that Dial Global, Triton Radio's sales and programming division, has placed a $2.1 million equipment order for WEGENER iPump(R) 6420 audio media servers and network products. The order was booked during the fourth quarter of WEGENER's fiscal 2008 and will ship over the first three quarters of WEGENER's fiscal 2009.

Following its acquisition of Jones Media America in June of this year, Dial Global is purchasing the equipment to upgrade and expand the WEGENER file-based broadcasting platform that Jones Media currently uses to manage its 2,000-radio station network from its Denver network operations center (NOC). This is the initial phase of a multi-year project to ultimately expand Dial Global's file-based distribution of programming, advertising and related services to their 6,000 radio affiliates.

With the ability to pre-position local advertising and station promotions, WEGENER's file-based broadcasting solution combines the efficiencies of large network operations with the delivery of localized content. Also, the WEGENER iPump 6420 media server uses playlists and network commands sent from a centralized Compel(R) network control system to generate hyper-localized audio channels by seamlessly transitioning between live and stored audio programs.

"We're thrilled that Dial Global has decided to expand its WEGENER file-based broadcasting platform across its extensive affiliate network," said Ned L. Mountain, president and COO of WEGENER. "We look forward to supporting Dial Global's efforts to achieve more efficient program delivery, advertising insertion, and a customized listening experience across the country."

WEGENER representatives will be available to discuss the capabilities of the iPump 6420 audio media server and COMPEL-enabled solutions at NAB Radio, Booth #331, in the Austin Convention Center, September 17-19, 2008, in Austin, Texas.
