Comcast to Offer 2008 Presidential Debates On Demand

Partnership With WGBH Will Make Presidential Debates Available On Demand

BOSTON, Sept. 26 /PRNewswire/ -- Comcast, the nation's leading provider of entertainment, information and communications, today announced that it will make PBS coverage of all four of this fall's presidential and vice presidential debates available On Demand for its digital cable customers in New England at no additional cost through a partnership with WGBH Boston.

Each debate, starting with tonight's in Oxford, Mississippi, will be available for On Demand viewing the morning after it airs, and stay up through Election Day.

"These debates are central to our country's process for choosing our next president and vice president," said Paul D'Arcangelo, Vice President of Comcast's Metro Boston Region. "We're happy to make all of this year's presidential and vice presidential debates available On Demand, making it easier for our customers with digital cable to watch the candidates in this historic contest go head to head at their convenience, with the ability to pause, fast-forward and rewind."

"Given the participation of Jim Lehrer and Gwen Ifill of PBS's NewsHour as moderators of the first two debates, it's only appropriate that Comcast should select that long-standing and well-regarded series' coverage of the debates to offer to their customers in New England," said Ron Bachman, WGBH's Director of Programming.

To watch this On Demand coverage, Comcast digital cable customers should select "Get Local" from the On Demand library, then "Local Networks," then "WGBH" and "Vote '08." Like the majority of Comcast's 10,000 On Demand programs, the debates will be available at no additional cost to digital cable customers.
