Carrie Fisher To Narrate 'Stonehenge Deciphered' for Smithsonian Channel(TM)
Newest Findings to Reveal Prehistoric Monument's Date and Purpose in Documentary Premiering Saturday, Sept. 27
WASHINGTON, Sept. 22 /PRNewswire/ -- Renowned Actress Carrie Fisher is the narrator of the new Smithsonian Channel(TM) documentary, STONEHENGE DECIPHERED, premiering Saturday, Sept. 27 at 9 p.m. ET/PT. The news was announced by David Royle, Executive Vice President for Programming and Production for the Channel.
Ms. Fisher, best known to audiences for her roles in "Star Wars," "When Harry Met Sally," as well as her critically acclaimed book, "Postcards From the Edge" which became a hit film starring Meryl Streep, currently is in Washington, D.C. performing her one-woman show, "Wishful Drinking," at the Lincoln Theatre through Sept. 28.
The findings from "Stonehenge Deciphered," will be the basis of a press conference taking place on Monday, September 22 in London by archeologists Prof. Timothy Darvill of the University of Bournemouth and Prof. Geoff Wainwright, President of the Society of Antiquaries -- who conducted the first inner-circle dig in nearly 50 years--for the documentary shot in partnership with the BBC/Timewatch.
The documentary, as well as an October cover story in Smithsonian Magazine and the press conference, will posit a more accurate date for the monument's completion as well as a new theory about its purpose. The professors have a remarkable theory about the meaning and power of the Bluestones, the smaller stones in the monument's inner circle. The program will air day and date in the UK on the BBC's "Timewatch" program and in the United States on Smithsonian Channel.
