"Brangelina" Reigns in Guinness World Records 2009
LONDON, September 14/PRNewswire/ -- As if their superstardom, beauty and an ever-expanding brood
of children weren't enough to make Hollywood green with envy - Guinness World
Records 2009 crowns Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie the Most Powerful Actor and
Actress in the world. Jolie grabs her previously-joint title from Jennifer
Aniston and stands solo on the top as Most Powerful Actress, while husband
(and Aniston's ex) Pitt topples Tom Cruise's four-year reign as Most Powerful
Actor. The record category is calculated based on a 12-month matrix of
Google, Yahoo and Factiva searches; IMDBPro news stories and "Star Meter"
readings, as well as Forbes earnings and Celebdaq share price, at the time of
press.
The 2009 edition also reveals amazing achievements by other
high calibre actors in the cinematic arena. Samuel L Jackson sets the world
record for the Highest Grossing Actor with a whopping 68 movies at a total
gross of US$7.42 billion (GBP3.94 billion). Fans of Tim Burton and Johnny
Depp (both USA) can celebrate that their actor/director union became the Most
Lucrative Movie Partnership ever formed with five blockbuster films netting
an amazing GBP287m (US$570.6 million). Other record-breakers include the 21
Bond movies and Transformers (USA, 2007) which mark the Highest Grossing
Movie Series and Most Downloaded Movie, respectively.
From the world of television, Lost (ABC) becomes the Most
Downloaded Show of all times. However, in a bizarre record twist, it loses
its title for Most Popular TV Show to hospital drama House (Fox), starring
Hugh Laurie (UK) as the unconventional maverick Dr Gregory.
Also receiving a major accolade in the 2009 book, UK actor Christopher
Lee is named Most Connected Living Actor based on the University of
Virginia's 'Oracle of Bacon' software. The database maps the working
relationship between 1,250,000 actors and actresses and Lee is identified as
living in the "Centre of the Hollywood Universe".
The all new 2009 edition of the Guinness World Records is on
sale from the 17th September 2008, bursting with new records, fascinating
stats, celebrity gossip and - for the first time ever - incredible 3D images.
