As part of Crime Prevention Month in October, NCPC is getting the word out about its new rapid response initiative, which is aimed at helping communities address timely topics such as home invasion, school shootings, crimes against seniors, sexual assault, and property theft. The topics covered in the rapid response radio kit that accompanies this initiative can help the media, law enforcement, and NCPC, the leader in crime prevention education, respond quickly to a community situation with proven prevention tips. The kit features ten pre-recorded messages as well as live announcer scripts that let local media and law enforcement respond with personalized messages to their community when a crime takes place.
NCPC President and CEO Al Lenhardt said, "We know that less crime is no accident. Each of us must stand ready to do our part if we want to be safe and secure in our neighborhoods without the threats of crime and violence. This initiative gives communities the information they need to act immediately."
The initiative is funded by the Bureau of Justice Assistance (BJA), Office of Justice Programs, U.S. Department of Justice. As part of the partnership between NCPC and BJA, a second set of new radio messages will be added in the coming months.
