We are proud of the continuous spontaneous confirmation of the talents in Italian and international cinema and we wish to return the star system's award tribute with the third edition of the Persol Style Award on the occasion of the 65th Venice International Film Festival, the ideal showcase and setting where the glamour of Italian style and prestige is joined with a strong international appeal.

VENICE, Italy, Sept. 17 /PRNewswire/ -- The "Persol Style Award," in its third edition at the 65th International Film Festival, is awarded to Kathryn Bigelow, the American director who presented the film entitled "Hurt Locker" at 65.

The "Persol Style Award" is awarded to a director who stands out for the qualities that have marked the unmistakable style of the brand since 1917.

In 2008, Persol and Biennale di Venezia are honoured to award the "Persol Style Award" to Director Kathryn Bigelow, whose talent and directorial personality stems from the great affinity found between her vision and directing style and the values that have always characterised the Persol brand: sophisticated design, attention to detail in manufacturing, iconic shapes and quality of materials.

Kathryn Bigelow is passionate about film, art and photography, and her moviemaking style reflects her ability to conceive and therefore create a film as if it is a true artwork. Her directing style is distinct in its sophisticated aesthetic research that is reflected in a photography that is almost tactile, feeling handcrafted and sensual, and in her works of high visual intensity.

Her entirely feminine ability to venture upon a male genre like the action movie in an innovative and recognisable manner makes it possible for her to strike the perfect balance between action and art, just like Persol has always been a marriage of technology and timeless allure.

President of the Biennale Foundation, Paolo Baratta, and the Artistic Director of the Venice Film Festival Marco Mueller were present at the annual granting of the award.

Fabio d'Angelantonio, Group Marketing Director Luxottica Group, comments: "The Persol style is made up of qualities from most genuine tradition of craftsmanship in Italy. Today, Persol is an unsurpassed reference point in Made in Italy prestige accessories and for us Venice is the ideal location to

celebrate in the perfect setting the film talent that best expresses the style of a brand that has made eyewear history."
