This year marks a significant period in Andrea Bocelli's amazing life journey -- Incanto coincides with the singer's 50th birthday, serving as a personal tribute to the great musical traditions of his homeland. Destined to be the must-have record of the holiday season, the new recording features fourteen gems from the treasure chest of classic Italian love songs. Each brims with sparkling orchestrations and warmth that has become the signature Bocelli sound. Highlights include "Because," "Mamma," "Granada," "Funiculi Funicula" and "Un Amore Cosi Grande" to name a few. The album is accompanied by a bonus DVD containing exclusive documentary footage, including an interview with Bocelli filmed in Naples, alongside a music video showcasing that glamorous city circa 1950. The video features rare clips of notable figures enjoying the romance of Naples in its heyday such as Elizabeth Taylor, Richard Burton, Sophia Loren, John F Kennedy and more.
Now at the height of an incredible career that unfolded a decade ago, Andrea is gratified to release Incanto, paying homage to the great tenors he has admired his whole life. "All these tunes are classics, because they're masterpieces. Pop singers as well as operatic tenors have measured themselves against this repertoire ... What I wanted was to make an album of all the songs I remember from my earliest childhood, the music of my roots," explained the world-renowned tenor.
An iconic figure in music who has sold over 60 million albums to date, Bocelli continues to defy categorization, age barriers and labels of all kinds. He has performed for two Popes, two U.S. Presidents, Queen Elizabeth II and a veritable who's who of heads of state and members of royalty. In concert or on the opera stage, he has worked with everyone from Christina Aguilera and Bono to the great Luciano Pavarotti. His performances at major concert venues and media events such his duet with Josh Groban at The Grammy Awards, mentoring contestants on American Idol, and the Official Ceremonies of past Olympic Games to nave a few, have propelled Andrea Bocelli to a global household name.
