MTV Elects LANE FOUR to Rock Shoreline Before Linkin Park and Chris Cornell on the Projekt Revolution Tour

SAN FRANCISCO, Aug. 7 /PRNewswire/ -- MTV's "Rock the Revolution" winners LANE FOUR will be one of three bands that won the opportunity to rock the stage at Shoreline Amphitheater this Saturday. The summer's premier rock tour, Projekt Revolution, comes to San Francisco featuring Linkin Park, Chris Cornell, The Bravery, Atreyu, Hawthorne Heights, and a host of other headline-worthy acts including LANE FOUR.

LANE FOUR is fronted by two remarkable young alternative hard rock artists: lead singer, LAYLA BROOKLYN ALLMAN, is the 15-year old daughter of Rock n Roll Hall of Famer, GREGG ALLMAN, of the legendary Allman Brothers Band. The fire that burns in the family genes is alive and kicking in this tall, attractive blonde powerhouse! Equally as vibrant and remarkable is 15-year old NICK LOIACONO whose dynamic, scorching and technically creative guitar work is a wonderful compliment to this remarkably professional young band.

"When we started this tour, our idea [was] to showcase groups that were doing something revolutionary, something original, something different," says Mike Shinoda of Linkin Park. Shinoda says the tour isn't just for Linkin Park fans, and he loves how fans of other bands can come to it, check out the other acts and find out about new music. He adds, "we hope that some day, fans can look back and say, 'Oh, I remember the first time I saw so-and-so; this is a band that I knew was going to be doing something really great and different in the future.'"

LANE FOUR is that kind of band. It is four 15-year olds with a passion for new alternative hard rock music, each with a different musical taste and a unique way to blend them, creating a sound that is their own. LAYLA ALLMAN fronts the band with the hard driving vocals one would expect from a much older singer. "I am very excited to be performing during the Projekt Revolution Tour and to get exposure with new fans, it is so cool that MTV and Verizon came up with this idea for new bands and fans to connect," said LAYLA ALLMAN, daughter of Southern Rocker Legend GREGG ALLMAN. "I remember being 15, and what my first band sounded like, I wish we were as tight as LANE FOUR," stated GREGG ALLMAN.

Here in San Francisco, MTV2 encouraged over 150 bands participation in the contest that allowed the help of family, friends and fans to vote online to be considered for the opening slot. MTV then chose three bands among the 12 top vote getters to perform at the concert, including LANE FOUR. Their live shows are high energy that compliments their sound and their youth.

LANE FOUR Band Members include:
-- Layla Allman -- Vocals, Keys,
-- Austin Dunn -- Bass Guitar
-- Nick Loiacono -- Lead Guitar
-- Eric Perkins -- Drums

Linkin Park's brainchild, Projekt Revolution defiantly embraces the tenets originally espoused by Lollapalooza -- musical revolution, artistic camaraderie and genre diversity. "To share Shoreline with a band that has sold over 40 million albums worldwide and has earned two GRAMMY(R) Awards is a great experience at 15 years old," says Nick Loiacono, Lead Guitarist for LANE FOUR. He adds, "their approach to a touring festival that is not one-sided -- it's a metal tour, alternative tour and a hip-hop tour all mixed together and we are a little part of the flavor of what today's youth can bring to the stage...'New Alternative Hard Rock.'"

The Shoreline Amphitheater provides a unique outdoors atmosphere and a full day of enjoyment for fans of all genres. LANE FOUR rocks the stage at 1:00 PM on the Revolution Stage. There will be two stages of entertainment, meet and greets, artist signings, listening stations and more.

The Projekt Revolution Tour is sponsored by Verizon Wireless -- Verizon Wireless is a joint venture of Verizon Communications and Vodafone.
