ABOUT THE 48 HOUR FILM PROJECT:
A company committed to producing cutting-edge films in Chicago: "Three original films by 2010. A feature by 2012. And if that doesn't happen, we have a suicide pact. We're all creative, experienced, award-winning, fun loving, technically proficient people doing what we love and loving what we do. We embrace the highest production values. We want to be relevant and quirky."
ABOUT THE FILM: Skin
"Skin" exposes the audience to their denial of impermanence. It probes at the horrifyingly subtle itch we call death and reveals the temporary nature of the lives we lead. Shooting begins August 20 throughout Chicago.
ABOUT THE FOUNDER/PRODUCER: Daniel J. Cook
Cook combines youthful innovation and energy with years of behind-the-scenes experience. From Warner Brothers' Batman: The Dark Knight to the Chicago Ballet to the Crown Fountain at Millennium Park, Cook has put his sweat behind more than 25 of Chicago's most noted creative works. His technical direction has won praise from IndieWire as surpassing "In quality almost any competition film from SUNDANCE this year." Cook recently won Best Director Award for his short film "Widows Fix" in the 48 Hour Film Project competition. In the theatrical community, Cook's technical direction and design has brought Chicago Reader Critic's Picks to One Theater Company's "Buddy: The Buddy Holly Story," Theater Wit's "Thom Pain (based on nothing)" (Jeff Committee Recommended), Second City's "The Chair," Strawdog Theater Company's "Impossible Marriage" and "A Lie of the Mind," both Jeff Committee Recommended. Previous arts-administration work includes co-founder, board member and treasurer of the Echoes of Chicago Artists' Collective.

When he's not busy in the ad agency and film studio world, he enjoys photographing small music venues and designing graphics for local theatre companies.
