The Office Games begin 9:00 a.m. ET. All events take place in and around the Mall at Steamtown in Scranton, PA.
"Scranton and our residents have opened up our hearts to Mindy," Mayor Christopher Doherty expresses. "The beet red carpet is down and we are ready to go. Mindy is like an honorary Scranton resident and we welcome her home for these exciting events."
A 2K Fun Run kicks off the day's events with participants wearing business attire and vying for a chance to be named Best Dressed and Best Office Character Look-a-Like. Avid fans will then go head-to-head in a Trivia Challenge to separate the Assistant to the Regional Managers from the Regional Managers.
"Scranton is definitely the place to be on this day," says Kaling.
The day's highlight could come during the Beet Eating Contest, as Kaling is rumored to compete personally, showing a side of chatty Kelly Kapoor few folks have ever seen.
Winners from all of the day's events will be awarded a coveted Dwight Bobble Head trophy.
Among those officiating the events, which take place in and around the Mall at Steamtown, are Scranton Mayor Doherty, State Representative Frank Shimkus, WBRE-TV personalities Candice Kelly, Doug Currin and Kristi Capel and Magic 93 Morning Personality, Frankie Warren.
The Office Games will raise funds for United Neighborhood Centers of Northeastern Pennsylvania (UNC), a Scranton-based charity that provides services and creates opportunities which empower individuals and builds strong interdependent communities throughout Northeastern Pennsylvania.
Once the beets are eaten and the contestants are washed up, the first 125 people who purchased The Office DVD Board Game or The Office Trivia Game today at Boscov's at the Mall at Steamtown will meet Mindy, who will also autograph their game.
"There is no question that Scranton is the place to introduce our new games based on The Office," explains Jim Pressman, Pressman Toy President. "The fan base is terrific, and we know local residents will come out and have a great day."
