Angel City Jazz Festival Launches with 14 International and Local Jazz Artists in Hollywood
HOLLYWOOD, Calif., July 10 /PRNewswire/ -- Angel City Jazz Festival (ACJF) is LA's only alternative, non-commercial jazz festival featuring modern, creative music encompassing a wide variety of styles. ACJF will kick off this year's festival on September 1st, Labor Day at Barnsdall Park in Hollywood from 11am to 10:30pm.
Headlining this year's line-up are:
Alan Pasqua's Quartet with Alan Pasqua on piano, Darek Oles on bass, Peter Erskine on drums and Bob Mintzer on sax
The Satoko Fujii Ma-Do Quartet from Japan with Satoko Fujii on piano, Natsuki Tamura on trumpet, Norikatsu Koreyasu on bass and Akira Horikoshi on drums
Sweeter Than The Day with Wayne Horvitz on piano, Tim Young on guitars, Keith Lowe on bass and Eric Eagle on drums
Andy Milne's Dapp Theory featuring Loren Stillman on sax, John Moon on vocals, Chris Tordini on bass, and Kenny Groshosky on drums
The Arthur Blythe Quintet featuring Gusts Tsillis on marimba, Nick Rosen on bass, Nate Morgan on piano, and Alex Cline on drums
Leni Stern, with Leni Stern on guitar & vocals, Makane Kouyate on talking drums, Yacouba Sissoko on kora & vocals, Mamadou Ba on bass and Brahim Frigbane on oud, doumbek & cajon
Elliott Sharp performing his groundbreaking solo guitar work "The Velocity of Hue"

Unification Theory (http://www.crewestgallery.com/artists/utheory.html) will do live paintings directly inspired by the improvisational music of the various Jazz musicians performing throughout the Festival. These improvisational live paintings will include large-sized paintings and smaller works. All of these live paintings will be available for purchase at the Angel City Jazz Festival.
