HBO and the Gene Siskel Film Center Host Chicago Premiere of 'THE BLACK LIST: VOLUME ONE' on Tuesday, Aug. 5

What: HBO in partnership with the Gene Siskel Film Center will host an
invitation-only screening of the HBO documentary film "THE BLACK
LIST: VOLUME ONE" as part of the "14th Annual Black Harvest
International Festival of Film and Video."

Who: Filmmaker Elvis Mitchell will attend and participate in a Q&A
session after the screening. Mitchell is also the entertainment
critic for NPR's Weekend Edition with Scott Simon. Mitchell was
a film critic for the New York Times for four years, starting in
January 2000.

Details: THE BLACK LIST presents dramatic portraits of some of today's
most fascinating and influential African-Americans, who share
their stories and insights into the struggles, triumphs and joys
of black life in the U.S. The film is a collaboration between
celebrated portrait photographer and filmmaker Timothy
Greenfield-Sanders, who directs, and award-winning journalist
Elvis Mitchell, who interviews such notables as Kareem
Abdul-Jabbar, Sean Combs, Thelma Golden, Lou Gossett, Jr., Bill
T. Jones, Vernon Jordan, Toni Morrison, Suzanne-Lori Parks,
Richard Parsons, Chris Rock, Al Sharpton, Slash, Faye Wattleton,
Serena Williams, Keenen Ivory Wayans and Zane. "THE BLACK LIST:
VOLUME ONE" premieres on HBO on MONDAY, AUGUST 25th at 8:00 P.M.

The Gene Siskel Film Center's "14th Annual Black Harvest
International Festival of Film and Video," August 1-28, is the
Midwest's biggest and best celebration of the black experience
on film. "Black Harvest" highlights talent from around the
nation and around the world, with a special emphasis on
Chicago-based filmmakers.
