The First Surviving Set of African American Sextuplets To Be Profiled on Discovery Health's Then Came 6
-- The Newest Addition to Discovery Health's "Amazing Families" Anthology Premieres Tuesday, August 5 at 9 PM ET/PT --
SILVER SPRING, Md., July 24 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Six years ago, Diamond and Chris Harris got more than they bargained for when they decided to have one more baby as a companion for their six-year-old son, DeWayne. Their surprise? Sextuplets! The second installment of Discovery Health's three-part special THEN CAME 6 continues the story of the Harrises, an extraordinary family with a remarkable claim-to-fame-they have the only surviving set of African-American sextuplets. Premiering Tuesday, August 5 at 9 PM ET/PT, THEN CAME 6 offers a glimpse into the chaos -- and the fun! -- that comes with raising seven children.
In February 2008, Discovery Health first introduced viewers to the Harris family, showcasing the ups and downs of raising sextuplets -- plus one. Now, this next installment of THEN CAME 6 provides a deeper look at the Harris' daily life, following the family as the sextuplets grow, and as their list of extracurricular activities and social circle expands. Caring for six-year-old sextuplets and a pre-teen offers no rest for Diamond and Chris -- day after day, their hectic schedule of planning family meals, carpooling, cleaning, checking homework and playing with the kids offers little, if any, downtime.
"As a parent of sextuplets, I find it is very important that we take time for ourselves," says Diamond. "For that matter, every parent needs the opportunity to just get away for just a moment." From Diamond leaving Chris at home with the kids to celebrate her birthday with the girls, to her decision to get a new tattoo, THEN CAME 6 highlights Diamond and Chris' amazing ability to juggle it all, showing how they manage to find time for their individual interests and careers -- and each other.
THEN CAME 6 also shows how this unique family navigates everyday issues that affect many families, including raising an autistic child. This hour-long special demonstrates how the Harris' handle life's challenges and changes with incredible poise and their signature sense of humor.
Online at discoveryhealth.com, visitors will have access to Diamond and Chris' tried-and-true parenting tips, as well as Harris family-themed interactive games. In addition, visitors can get to know the Harrises better by reading each family member's biography and viewing the family's photo album, featuring the family and the sextuplets through the years.
THEN CAME 6 is produced for Discovery Health by Figure 8 Films. For Discovery Health, Wendy Douglas is executive producer. For Figure 8 Films, Bill Hayes is executive producer.
