'The McLaughlin Group' Moving to WUSA and WCBS Beginning May 4th

Award-winning talk show moving to WUSA-TV in Washington, DC and WCBS-TV in New York. Move does not affect 315 PBS affiliates.

WASHINGTON, April 25 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Iconic talk show host John McLaughlin announced today that his production company Oliver Productions is taking his award-winning public affairs talk show, "The McLaughlin Group," to Gannett's Washington DC CBS affiliate, WUSA-TV and WCBS-TV New York, an owned and operated CBS network station. The move comes after more than two decades with NBC's Washington, DC affiliate WRC-TV and WNBC-TV, New York. Beginning in May the show will air on CBS's Washington affiliate, WUSA-TV and on WCBS-TV in New York. It will continue to be seen nationally on 315 PBS stations across the country.

"The opportunity presented by WUSA was just too good to turn down," McLaughlin said. "We are proud and excited to be the centerpiece of their Sunday morning programming. Our PBS audience across the country is strong and loyal. Even so, it's difficult to say good-bye after 26 years with NBC WRC-TV where we produced the show weekly. McLaughlin's show, which features panel discussions on issues of the day with regulars Pat Buchanan, Eleanor Clift, Clarence Page, Monica Crowley and Mort Zuckerman, has been a ratings giant over the years consistently drawing better ratings than NBC's powerhouse "Meet the Press with Tim Russert" in both the Washington, DC and New York markets. The show's panelists will be staying on with the show as it makes its transition to the new stations.

Oliver Productions will move its production of The McLaughlin Group to the WUSA-TV studio in Washington, DC and the first show produced at the new facilities will air on Saturday May 3rd at 7:30pm and Sunday May 4th at 11:30am in Washington, DC and Sunday May 4th at 11:00am in New York on WCBS-TV.

The McLaughlin Group premiered in 1982 and quickly established itself as the most talked about show in the nation's capital. It garnered a national following with its affiliation with PBS. WTTW-TV in Chicago will continue as the presenting PBS Station. McLaughlin also produces and hosts "One on One" which first aired in 1984. From 1984 until 1989 he produced and hosted "McLaughlin", a one hour nightly talk show.
