Daughtry Debuts Don't Tread On Me on 'Idol Gives Back'

Premium Clothing Line Featured in Daughtry's Video

SAN DIEGO, April 17 /PRNewswire/ -- If you watched "American Idol: Idol Gives Back" last week, you were among the 40 million viewers who experienced the debut of the Don't Tread On Me clothing line on the show. The night started off hot with tons of A-list celebrities but reached its peak with a standing ovation for celebrity Brad Pitt as he took the stage. After the crowd settled down, he talked about a more serious note about the AIDS epidemic in Africa and introduced the best-selling band of 2007: Daughtry.

Daughtry performed the song "What About Now" on their trip to Uganda, Africa and lead guitarist Josh Steely wore a Don't Tread On Me shirt during the music video. A long-time fan of the brand, Josh has worn Don't Tread On Me during concerts and other major events because of its deep American heritage and the brand's true rebellious spirit.

Don't Tread On Me launched worldwide in 2007 by brothers Tim and Luke Bauer and was originally a war cry during the American revolutionary war. Benjamin Franklin even recommended the symbol of America to be a rattle-snake instead of the bald-eagle, because it was a bird of bad moral character. The rattle-snake was a creature the was fair in its warning but deadly in it's strike. Franklin considered it a more than perfect symbol of America during England's oppressive reign. Coincidently, the rattle-snake has 13 rattles on it's tail, which was the same number as the 13 colonies that started America.

Today, the brand's rebel spirit is being kept alive by vintage washes, slim-fit body styles, and water-based distressed screen prints. Don't Tread On Me clothing draws its influences from American history, hot rod culture, rock & roll music, and old motorcycle gangs. It is the embodiment of someone who takes the world on their terms and doesn't let anybody walk over them.

Don't Tread On Me is available at Lisa Kline Men's in Beverly Hills, various boutiques across the nation and overseas, and online at http://www.dtom.com/
