Iowa Mom Wins $2.2 Million Grand Prize Package in HGTV Dream Home Giveaway 2008(SM)
CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa, March 17 /PRNewswire/ -- An early surprise birthday party celebration turned into the surprise birthday gift of a lifetime when 31-year-old Stephanie Dee learned she was the winner of the 2008 HGTV Dream Home located in the new development of The Shore at Islamorada, Florida. Dee, a physician's assistant and mother of two, thought that her girlfriends had gathered to give her an early birthday party when HGTV's Lauren Lake knocked on the door of her Solon, Iowa home. Her shock at receiving the news was broadcast around the country during the live broadcast of HGTV Dream Home Giveaway 2008 on Sunday, March 16, 2008 at 9 p.m. ET/8 p.m. CT.

Dee, whose name was drawn from more than 40 million entries, received the grand prize package with a retail value of $2.2 million. In addition to the new, custom-designed and fully furnished bayside home, the grand prize package includes a state-of-the-art kitchen, a matching Doggy Dream Home and a 2008 GMC Yukon Hybrid. And since Islamorada is the sport fishing capital of the world, there's even a room dedicated to fishing!
Dee's husband, Tommy, who was surprised along with his wife, and their two young children, Taylor, age 3, and Sydney, 9 months, seemed shocked as well. "We're very fortunate," he said. "I can't believe we really won!"
