Groundbreaking 'Lyrically Speaking' Series to Feature David Crosby on April 8

The Aspen Writers' Foundation and Jetride Present the Musical Legend in a Songwriter Showcase

ASPEN, Colo., March 21 /PRNewswire/ -- Musical legend David Crosby will launch the 3rd annual "Lyrically Speaking" songwriter series in Aspen next month. The pioneering concert-and-conversation program, presented by the Aspen Writer's Foundation and Jetride, will feature the masterful songwriter in an interview and solo performance on Tuesday, April 8 at the Belly Up Aspen.

"As a singer-songwriting icon, social justice advocate and vocal master, David Crosby's powerful lyrics have moved generations of music lovers. Lyrically Speaking is about music with a message, and David embodies that spirit," said Lisa Consiglio, executive director of the Aspen Writers' Foundation. "It is a great honor to join Jetride in presenting him in Aspen."

David Crosby

Probably more than anyone on the planet, David Crosby has lived a life that is emblematic of his generation's dizzying journey through the past four decades. A founding member of two seminal folk/rock bands (The Byrds and Crosby, Stills & Nash), Crosby is a two-time inductee into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, an artistic firebrand with multiple platinum and gold records to his name, a successful solo recording artist, and a bestselling author of three memoirs that detail the roller coaster infamy of his rock star career.

Lyrically Speaking

The Lyrically Speaking series has charted new ground in the songwriting world by creating live concert-and-conversation events that get behind the lyrics of world-class artists. The program features an on-stage interview conducted by music journalist and author Paul Zollo, in which questions are interspersed with songs, followed by a solo concert held at the intimate, 400-seat Belly Up club. Since its critically acclaimed launch in 2006, the program has featured Michelle Shocked, Vusi Mahlasela, Aimee Mann and Allan Harris. It is one of eight year-round, ongoing programs of the Aspen Writers' Foundation.

Lyrically Speaking 2008 is presented by Jetride: The Aspen Approach. "Jetride is proud to partner with the Aspen Writers' Foundation in an effort to help them continue with the very important work that they do in the community," said Tariq Nasir, Vice President of Strategy and Business Development for Jetride.
