Deltec Homes and ABC's 'Extreme Makeover: Home Edition' Surprise a Second Family with a Wonderful Gift

Deltec Homes Leads Build Team to Construct Two Projects at the Same Time

NEW ORLEANS, March 6 /PRNewswire/ -- Earlier this afternoon, for the second time in the same day, Ty Pennington and the crew of "Extreme Makeover: Home Edition" brought wonderful news to another deserving family. Deltec Homes and "Extreme Makeover: Home Edition" will be providing Pastor Willie Walker a brand new church for him and his community.

In 1998 Pastor Willie Walker came to Noah's Ark Missionary Baptist Church in New Orleans. Pastor Walker had dedicated his life to helping people who are in most need -- addicts, AIDS patients, the homeless and the poor.

When Katrina hit, Walker found his church totally destroyed by the wind and flood waters. Faced with the reality that his church was gone Pastor Walker never wavered. He continually risked his life by going back to the devastation to help rescue hundreds of people and save countless lives.

For two years, Pastor Walker continues to work tirelessly to help the victims of Katrina, but has not been able to rebuild his beloved church. Now, Deltec Homes and their builder coalition along with the crew of "Extreme Makeover: Home Edition" will rebuild this church and provide not just a place of worship for this congregation, but a refuge for the entire community.

"Building one home in a week takes an extraordinary effort, but building two takes an army," said Joseph Schlenk of Deltec Homes. "That is exactly what we have. Our team consists of some of the finest builders, sub contractors and volunteers from all across the country. These men and women are converging on New Orleans at their own expense to make a difference. This isn't going to be easy, nothing that can do this much good ever is."

Deltec Homes is the nation's leading supplier of hurricane resistant structures. The homes are manufactured in North Carolina and shipped all over the world where they are assembled and finished by local labor.

"Our home design was a perfect fit for this project. We have never lost a home to high winds. Eight Deltec homes were in the direct path of Katrina, none suffered any structural damage," said Schlenk.

Extreme Makeover: Home Edition, which has won back-to-back Emmy Awards as Best Reality Program (non-competitive), is in its 5th season on ABC. The program is produced by Endemol USA, a division of Endemol Holding. Denise Cramsey is the executive producer; and David Goldberg is the president of Endemol USA.

The church and the Westwego build will take place simultaneously March 6-14, and the two-hour episode will air as the season finale on May 18.
