Comcast Names C. Stephen Backstrom Senior Vice President of Taxation

PHILADELPHIA, March 19 /PRNewswire/ -- Comcast Corporation (NASDAQ:CMCSA)(NASDAQ:CMCSK), the nation's leading provider of entertainment, information and communications, today announced that C. Stephen Backstrom has been named Senior Vice President of Taxation. In this role, he is responsible for overseeing Comcast's Tax Department, which is comprised of 60 employees in Philadelphia and Denver. He reports to Michael J. Angelakis, Chief Financial Officer, Comcast Corporation.

Previously, Backstrom served as Vice President of Taxation, and is credited with the founding of the company's Tax Department when he joined Comcast in 1981. Prior to Comcast, he was a manager at Deloitte & Touche in their Philadelphia office for 10 years, where he served in the Audit and Tax departments.

Backstrom is a past President and a current Director of the Broadband Tax Institute, where he has received the organization's President's Award. He also serves on the Board of Directors for the Comcast Foundation and Comcast Capital Corporation. Additionally, Backstrom is a member of the Tax Executives Institute (TEI), the Institute for Professionals in Taxation (IPT), Council of State Taxation (COST) and the Media Industry Tax Group.

Backstrom is a graduate of Drexel University, and is a Certified Public Accountant. He resides in Marlton, New Jersey.
