A-list Celebrity Jordan Matthews Embraces Causes Close to the Heart, Crucial to Humanity
Actor/model joins the league of famous faces choosing to 'make a difference'
LOS ANGELES, Feb. 15 /PRNewswire/ -- There's no doubt that actor/model Jordan Matthews (http://www.jordanmatthews.com/) is focused on his budding fame and thrilled about his rising-star status. But he's making it clear that a life outside of work, particularly when it comes to endorsing and participating in good causes, provides for a very different sort of reward. Now among the ranks of other A-list celebrities who use fame and fortune to support and promote key causes, Matthews has carefully scrutinized newsworthy issues, making a personal commitment to support organizations fighting global warming and ending genocide in Darfur. He's recently joined two organizations: Global Green USA (http://www.globalgreen.org/) and Save Darfur (http://www.savedarfur.org/).
"These problems affect us personally and also the world in general," Matthews says. "It's very clear that our entire planet is suffering due to our ignorance or negligence. Sustainable living is the way to go, and the organization Global Green USA is particularly active in this cause. Also, I view the genocide in Darfur as another Rwanda. It's heartbreaking, horrific and shameful, and has the power to be as catastrophic as the holocaust. Save Darfur is a major player in ending the genocide and advocating for peace."
As an actor who has directly benefited from the arts, Matthews is also a staunch supporter of dramatics and the theater. As such, he'll soon travel to New York to attend the Stella by Starlight Gala, an annual red-carpet affair hosted by the Stella Adler Studio (New York University) on March 17. The event celebrates acting, honoring major influences in a prestigious awards ceremony. Among this year's recipients: Martin Sheen, Pamela J. Newman, Liz Smith and the late Roy Scheider.
"I was fortunate enough to study with Stella Adler's grandson, Tom Oppenheim, who graciously invited me to this elite event," Matthews says. "It's a real honor to be included and mingle with 'the greats' in our field. These are all people who've inspired me and continue to do so daily.
