The Weinstein Company International Blazes New Ground in 2007 With Over $210 Million in The International Box Office in Only Its Second Year of Existence

- Film Independent Grows 170% from First Year to Second Year -

NEW YORK, Jan. 16 /PRNewswire/ -- The Weinstein Company announced today that their 2007 slate of films grossed over $210 million internationally, providing the Company with an increase of 170% from its first to its second year in business.

Glen Basner, President, International stated, "We are thrilled with the growth we enjoyed in 2007 especially as it was spread across a wide array of films. This is a terrific step forward as we build the worlds leading independent international sales and distribution entity."

Leading The Weinstein Company's foreign box office growth in 2007 were a series of cross over titles that gained global success, such as Stephen King's "1408," which brought in over $49 million, "TMNT," the fourth installment in the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles franchise which brought in over $41 million, and Quentin Tarantino's "Death Proof," which brought in over $28 million. In addition to its tentpole releases, TWC vast and growing library of diverse films such as "Halloween," "The Nanny Diaries," and "Sicko" provided to have a significant impact on international market share.

In 2008, TWC will be releasing titles such as Denzel Washington's "The Great Debaters," "Superhero Movie" from the creative geniuses behind "Airplane," the Naked Gun franchise and the Scary Movie franchise, the CG- animated family feature "Igor," "The Brothers Bloom," "Crossing Over," and "The Box."
