PA Lottery Launches American Idol (TM) Instant Game With Karaoke Events at Shopping Malls

Second-Chance Drawing Offers Trip to Final American Idol Competition Show

MIDDLETOWN, Pa., Jan. 8 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- The Pennsylvania Lottery will host karaoke events at shopping malls across the commonwealth this month to celebrate the launch of its new American Idol(TM) instant game, which goes on sale today.

Lottery's American Idol karaoke events will take place at seven shopping malls on Jan. 12, 19 and 26. Each event will be held from noon until 2 p.m. No registration or reservations are required.

-- Saturday, Jan. 12: Colonial Park Mall, Route 22 & Colonial Rd.,
Harrisburg, Dauphin County; Plaza at King of Prussia Mall, 160
North Gulph Rd., King of Prussia, Montgomery County; and Century
III Mall, 3075 Clairton Rd., West Mifflin, Allegheny County.

-- Saturday, Jan. 19: Galleria Mall, 500 Galleria Dr., Johnstown,
Cambria County and Viewmont Mall, 100 Viewmont Mall, (I-81 at Exit
191A), Scranton, Lackawanna County.

-- Saturday, Jan. 26: The Gallery, 9th & Market Sts., Philadelphia,
and Millcreek Mall, 654 Millcreek Mall Dr., Erie.

Each event will feature a karaoke stage where visitors, 18 years of age and older, can sing their favorite songs. Lottery officials will give a free $5 American Idol ticket to the first 50 people to visit each event. Visitors will also have an opportunity to have pictures taken with a cardboard cutout image of Gus, the second-most famous groundhog in Pennsylvania. Photos will be available after the events on the Lottery Web site, http://www.palottery.com/.

The PA Lottery's new American Idol instant ticket game is a $5 game that offers 10 top prizes of $50,000 cash and more than 3,700 prizes from $400 to $5,000. The game, inspired by the popular FOX television show, includes more than $20 million in total cash prizes.

A second-chance drawing associated with the game will give players a chance to win one of 10 trips for two to see the American Idol final competition show in Hollywood, California, on May 20. One of those 10 winners will be selected to attend the grand finale show on May 21.

To enter the second-chance drawing, participants must send three non-winning tickets to the Pennsylvania Lottery. Instructions for submitting tickets can be found on the back of each American Idol ticket and on the Lottery Web site. The second-chance drawing for the American Idol trip packages will be held during the week of April 14. Second-chance winners may opt to take the trip to Hollywood or choose a cash prize of $6,500, less federal withholding.

How to play American Idol instant game: Win the prize shown under the matching number when any of YOUR NUMBERS match any of the IDOL NUMBERS. A "MICROPHONE" symbol wins the prize shown under it automatically. A "TV SET" symbol wins double the prize shown under it. The overall odds of winning a prize are 1-in-4.22.
