Hughes Signs CVS Systems as Distributor for HughesNet Broadband Satellite Internet Service
CVS Systems will enlist satellite television dealers in the Midwest
GERMANTOWN, Md., Jan. 8 /PRNewswire/ -- Hughes Network Systems, LLC (HUGHES), the global leader in broadband satellite networks and services, announced today that it has signed a distribution agreement with CVS Systems, Inc. to be a distributor of HughesNet(R) satellite broadband Internet service in the Midwest and Great Lakes region of the country, home to many consumers who are not served by high-speed landline Internet providers.
Under the terms of the agreement, CVS will market primarily to retailers in Illinois, Indiana, Kansas, Kentucky, Michigan, Missouri, and Ohio who will sell and install the HughesNet satellite broadband access service. These dealers will sell HughesNet broadband in addition to their satellite television offering, creating a new income opportunity for the dealerships while reaching a large base of consumers who cannot receive broadband through landline services.
"Historically, we have focused primarily on selling satellite television," said Tom Collins, CVS Systems president. "However, we feel that HughesNet satellite broadband is a perfect complement product for our dealers, as their satellite television customers meet the same profile as HughesNet subscribers -- they live in areas where terrestrial options are often times unavailable. We believe the addition of satellite broadband will open up a new revenue stream for our dealers and a new sales channel for Hughes. It also helps CVS solidify our partnership with the retail channel of satellite specialists," said Collins.
Founded in 1980, CVS Systems, Inc. is a DISH Network and XM Satellite Radio distributor for Illinois, Indiana, Kansas, Kentucky, Michigan, Missouri, and Ohio.
According to Allen McCabe, Hughes assistant vice president for Channel Sales, "Aligning with CVS presents the perfect opportunity for Hughes to expand its reach to the satellite television customer base in the upper Midwest and reach individuals who, due to geography, may not have access to cable or DSL broadband."
With more than 365,000 subscribers, the HughesNet service is the leading, two-way broadband satellite Internet service in the United States and is available to anyone, regardless of geography, with a clear view of the southern sky.
