The People's Choice Will Debut New Format for January 8, 2008 Awards Show on CBS

Queen Latifah to host program honoring people's choice for best in music, movies and television

LOS ANGELES, Dec. 19 /PRNewswire/ -- The People's Choice Awards today announced that it will produce its show in a new magazine-style format to be aired on Jan. 8, 2008 and hosted by Queen Latifah. The show will feature nominees from various categories related to music, movies and television, and People's Choice Award winners will have the opportunity to personally thank their loyal fans.

An important aspect of the new format will be the role the "people" will have in influencing the show itself. Beginning on Dec. 21, 2007, fans can log on to www.pcavote.com to submit questions they'd like to hear answered by their favorite stars. In addition to their acceptance remarks, award winners will also answer some of the most burning questions from their fans, which will be shown throughout the program.

"We're excited to pilot a new format for the People's Choice Awards this year," said Fred Nelson, President, People's Choice. "For 34 years, the People's Choice Awards has been the show that lets the voice of the fans be heard. With the reinvention of People's Choice, we're allowing entertainment enthusiasts to have even more influence on the show. In addition, the new approach will give fans a more personal glimpse into the lives of their favorite actors and musicians."

More than 10 million votes have already been cast on www.pcavote.com to determine the People's Choice Award winners for each category. Three categories remain open through the show, including Favorite New TV Comedy, Favorite New TV Drama and Favorite User-Generated Video. Fans can log on to www.pcavote.com today, and every day, to continue voting for these three awards, which will be announced during this year's show.

The People's Choice Awards airs on Jan. 8, 2008 at 9:00 pm EST/8:00 pm CST on CBS.

About The People's Choice Awards

The People's Choice Awards has been on air for 34 years and is the only show voted on entirely by the people for awards in music, movies and television. Potential nominees for THE 34th ANNUAL PEOPLE'S CHOICE AWARDS, were compiled with the help of Knowledge Networks, a leading market research company along with members of the People's Choice Community. Knowledge Networks used its consumer research resources, which include the only projectable, web-based, nationally representative panel to identify a pop culture-involved sample of men and women ages 18-49. For each category, the respondents were provided with a set of candidates determined by national ratings averages, box-office grosses and music sales. The respondents then chose their favorites in Television, Movies and Music. They also had the option to write in their favorites where not included among the provided candidates. Their top three selections in each category became the final nominees. Fans had the opportunity to vote for their favorites in each category at PCAvote.com from Nov. 8, 2007 to Dec. 5, 2007. Three categories remain open for voting through the show, including Favorite TV Comedy, Favorite TV Drama and Favorite User-Generated Video.
